SMC aviation warning balls are used in the air and are installed on high-voltage lines to warn aircraft and loading tools for over-height transportation on the ground or by water.
SMC aviation warning ball adopts hand lay-up fiberglass production process, adopts upper concave mold and lower convex mold design, and the joint interface is rough. Due to the roundness problem after demolding, it is also difficult to close the upper and lower hemispheres. Because the hand lay-up mold is simple to manufacture and low cost.
SMC Aviation Warning Ball Product Design Idea: If the development work refers to the hand-made glass warning ball, two pairs of metal molds are developed, and the upper concave mold and the lower convex mold are used to press the composite material products. The metal mold uses P20 material, and the production cost of a set of molds is 180,000, and the cost of two pairs is 360,000; using 40Cr or 40#, the cost of a set of molds is 120,000, and using upper and lower molds, the cost of the metal molds is doubled, and the cost is 240,000. Then the mold cost of this project will account for about 24%-36% of the project, and it is impossible to start the development. The cost ratio is too high, which will lead to the failure of the project development. The guiding ideology of using a pair of molds to form the entire ball is the soul of this SMC project. It is the first step to turn the development of the aviation warning ball from impossible to possible. Therefore, we consider whether we can use a pair of molds to solve the problem of upper and lower molds, so that the cost of the molds can be controlled within a reasonable and acceptable range. This guiding ideology has been highly recognized by customers.
